About Chronic Skin Conditions

How do I inject my medication?
Each medication will have its own instructions that your Alphascript pharmacist will review with you. If you have questions or concerns about how to inject your medication, please give us a call at (650) 412-4530.
In all cases before injecting a medication, thoroughly wash your hands and clean the injection site with an alcohol wipe. When you’re done, properly dispose of your used needles or syringes.
What causes flare-ups?
Individuals may find that their condition, like psoriasis or eczema, “flares up” as the result of internal or external triggers. Internal triggers can be things like stress or food allergies that increase inflammation. External triggers can be things like cold and dry weather, smoke and others. Tracking changes in your skin may help you identify your triggers so that you can avoid them.
How do I protect my skin from the sun?
It is important for your health to take steps to prevent sun damage. One way to protect your skin is to wear sunscreen every day, even if it is cloudy or overcast. Sunscreen should be applied 15-30 minutes before going outside. You should also wear protective clothing and stay in the shade when possible. Be especially vigilant if you take medication that makes you more sensitive to the sun.
